- CHA is a volunteer, nonprofit animal shelter dedicated to finding homes for homeless cats and dogs with responsible individuals. We rely on our volunteers for their talents and generosity of time in order to accomplish this goal.

In-shelter work
We are currently looking for volunteers who can work the following shifts - click here.
- Care for and socialize with the animals
- Assist with maintenance and upkeep of the shelter
- Assist potential adopters with meeting the adoptable animals
Fundraising
- Plan and participate in fundraising functions
- Contact businesses for donations of items or services
- Spread the word to the public about our fundraising events!
Office work
- Answer phones
- Perform adoption follow-ups
- Filing and paperwork
- Help with special events at the shelter
Fostering
- Give CHA pets extra attention, love and all the comforts of home by taking a CHA animal into your home!

To become a CHA volunteer:
- Volunteers must be at least 14 years old to work in the shelter.
- Volunteers between the ages of 14 and 15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is also a volunteer.
- Persons from 16 to 18 years of age may volunteer independently with signed consent of a parent or guardian.
- Adult volunteers are requested to not bring their young or
non-volunteering children with them to the shelter when they are working. - CHA does not honor court mandated volunteering.
Interested parties must participate in a Volunteer Orientation prior to beginning volunteer shifts. Orientations are held on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm. 2013 dates are as follows:
March 27th, April 10th, May 8th, May 22nd, June 12th, June 26th, July 10th, July 24th, August 14th, August 28th, September 11th, September 25th, October 9th, October 23rd, November 13th, December 11th.
